I have a 125 reef tank. This morning I found what appears to be a cluster of eggs stuck to the intake of my power head. I tried pulling one off, and they are all strung together. The only pair of fish I have in the tank are clowns, and these eggs appear too large to be theirs. Could these be tang eggs? From what I've researched, it doesn't appear like it. Right now they all appear transparrent orange, with a white bubble at the top.

I know that what ever they are, they probbably won't survive, but I'd like to know who did it...

I have 2 small damsels, a pair of black clowns, a six line wrasse, flame angel, 1 banggai cardinal, diamond goby, yellow head jawfish, yellow tang, desjardini sailfin tang, blond naso tang, blue hippo tang, and a blood fire shrimp.

P.S. I have a larger tank that the tangs will go in when they get too big.

Can they be a some kind of Valonias? Just guessing as you don't have other pair of fish than your clowns, eggs doesn't comes from nowhere, unless one of the other fish coming pregnant

Like bubble algae? I've never seen any like this. Also they feel squishy and almost gel like. Bubble algae that I've seen is usually pretty firm. Thanks for the thought though.

All the salt water fish egg info I've found says they hatch in 24 to 48 hours. I'm rolling up on 48 hours, and they don't appear to have changed any...

At 1pm today the eggs were still there, and they still looked the same. That is over 60 hours. When I got home a few minutes ago they were gone. I don't see any trace of the eggs, or signs of babies.

still no sign of babies. Life goes on. Any one have thoughts on what they were?

What inverts do you stock? I would much more suspect them before fish, and those definitely aren't clown eggs.

I have 1 blood fire shrimp, some turbo snails, and some small hermit crabs. I can't think of anything else besides hitch hikers. I haven't added anything new in months.
