(Not sure pic posted)

Could this just be ugly coraline? I've just ended a 3-day blackout and all my red cyano is gone. I didn't really think this was cyano to begin with, but thought it might be. Now, I'm pretty sure it's not. It doesn't brish off and is not fuzzy/bubbly.

Appreciate all help.

Thanks.

It looks kind of like lobophora, which isn't good.

Can you take another few pics?

Sand bed, wider view of the one above, other rocks.

Does it blow off or scrape off?

If it is smooth and slighly slimy but peels off in a tough sheet don't worry. It doesn't harm anything and rock on the reef has tons of it. Urchins will eat it I have found. Lobophora is usually a little leafy and plate looking like a small Monti Cap coral, I am not seeing this in your pic. and not encrusting. I think what you have is an encrusting type of red algae. Don't know the name. It usually grows in high light where coraline grows slower. If it is hard it may even be red coraline. It is harmless stuff I am pretty sure.
