Do you guys have or know anyone with 3d backgrounds in a reef? I converted my freshwater into a saltwater reef and just left the background in there. Right now my skimmer is behind it and im wondering if it functions correctly behind it with two intakes ( holes in the background ). Also, every reef I see dont have a 3d background. So maybe I should cut it out of there?

If you can, post a photo of what you have in your tank.

I think it looks really cool. There are a few 3d backgrounds out there and one company does a "Reef" background that look realistic but they are very expensive.

Only concern I have is many things that aren't made for Salt Water break down over time in SW and can be toxic in our salty glass boxes.

Should the skimmer work probably behind it though?

I forgot the company name but I know at a Marine Expo here in Los Angeles a month ago there was a company that had the 3D backgrounds for marine tanks. I can't find it on the vendors list here: http://www.marineaquariumexpo.com/EXHIBITORS/VENDORS/VENDORS_2013.html
Maybe someone else who was there would know what company it was?

You could always make your own using egg crate, reef safe cement and some rubble rock and sand.
