Hi RC folk, Looking for some input on wether this tank is a lost cause or not before I spent hours sanding it up ! Picked it up from work, where it has been used as a rubbish bin for a few years.. Was pretty grimy. Was made a long time ago for small public aquarium, was running as a flow through tank with a overflow down the middle.

It looks like the base may be laminated but im not sure. Alot of the scratches seem superficial, along with some of the rubbed abrasions.

Whats the consensus? Buff it up ? or let it live out its life as a rubbish bin?

Always worth a try heck it could be nice or a nice frag qt or mix tank

I would try and get a clear view of the seams, to see how well they were made. This might mean sanding and buffing them until a clear view can be had though... hard to tell otherwise from the pics.

If nothing else you can make two half barrel shallow tanks out of it. Cut the top rim flat and the bottom off (if you suspect the seams) and the tank in half. Then put new end plates on both the halves. Install some frag racks and stuff and enjoy.
