Can someone explain or confirm this for me. I use arm and hammer baking soda as an alk suplement via dosing pumps. Does bakig it for 2 plus hours help raise the ph in the tank or will it naturaly raise it without baking it first? What does baking it do to the baking soda to cause it to raise the PH if baking is necesary

Baking the baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) converts it into soda ash (sodium carbonate) water and carbon dioxide. The soda ash is much more basic than baking soda and will tend to raise pH a little when it is dosed. Regular baking soda is not very basic and will tend to not change pH or even lower it very slightly.

Be aware that these pH effects are very temporary.
