Hell everyone. I currently have a 72 gallon tank, 36 x 24 x 20 tall. I am going to upgrade to a little longer tank, an a little shallower. Going to go with a tank that I've always wanted a 90 gallon. 48 x 24 x 18" tall. ITs going to be custom made. Aynway, I have about 60 or so pounds of sand in my current tank. I am wondering, can I rinse the sand I currently have and use it in the new tank with some more sand added to it? If it matters, I have the Tropic Eden Reef Flakes. I plan to get that stuff in my next tank as well. Thanks in advanced.

It is likely that a lot of phosphate has binded with the sand. Calcium in the sand binds with phosphate making calcium phosphate. This is why old deep snad beds cause problems in aquaria. Soak in dilute HCL if you reuse it. It will be a foamy mess but This will remove the phosphate. If it were me i would use the sand for some cacti and buy new sand.
