I've been dosing calcium with a solution mixed per Randy's recipe for anhydrous calcium chloride (?) (Turbo Calcium). I've now switched to BRS's calcium chloride. Does anyone know if the concentration similar to Randy's solution when mixed per BRS's instructions?

If you look at Randy's recipe and the BRS recipe, you'll see they're identical. BRS is simply using Randy's recipe for CaCl2 dihydrate instead of the anyhdrous recipe that you're using. The Ca concentrations, however, are identical. Randy made the recipes this way so that the alk and Ca solutions were always balanced regardless of which product you use to make the solutions.

Cool. Thanks!

That's not quite true. You are correct in that the recipes are identical -- BRS just copied Randy's recipe. However, Randy's recipe is written for calcium chloride dihydrate in the form of Dow Flake. He says specifically that if you are using anhydrous calcium chloride then you should reduce the volume of solid you are using by 1/5. So, at the end of the day, if you follow the recipe, the BRS chemicals will be fine, but you use slightly more than you should have been using with an anhydrous source of CaCl2

Randy's recipe is written for both the dihydrate and anhydrous forms of CaCl2. He just suggests different amounts as you said. Since the OP said he was using anhydrous CaCl2 according to Randy's anhydrous recipe, the Ca concentration will be the same when he uses BRS' product according to BRS' recipe.

Like I said, the recipes are designed to provide the same Ca concentration as long as you are using the correct recipe for the correct product, which the OP has been doing, and will continue to do.
