My wife said I can get one of these pumps for my 55 gallon tank and with all this hoopla about pumps I though that maybe it wouldn't be a problem obtaining one. I really like the no cords in tank. Anyone know where I could get one used for cheap?

Wrong place for this. You need 50 posts and be a member for 90 days before you can use the buy/sell section.

this thread will be closed but your best bet is to check your local clubs. until you reach the 50/90 day requirement. as buying and selling is a priviage on this site.

Problem is this thread ont last long. The mods will close it.

One thing I've never understood is the 2nd hand market for mp40. It's smarter IMO to buy new so you have a warranty. After all that's a big part of the price. The savings used does not merit gambling with no warranty IMO.

I don't think the warranty vanishes when you sell the pump. It should still be covered by Ecotech.

If you plan on keeping the 55, you should consider going with 2xMP10 for a more balanced flow on both sides of the tank. I have one MP40 on my 75 and the flow on the far side is minimal. If I wasn't planning on upgrading to a bigger tank, I would have gone with 2x MP10's.

I would venture to say that most used vortech are 1+ years old.

If the pump is still under a year then thats another story and would feel okay buying

Could I try a wavemaker with the aquaclear powerheads I have? I have a 802 and 401.

The reason I ask is because I have a chance of picking up a red sea wavemaster for $50.00 and the seller says it will work with my powerheads without hearing a clicking noise. I don't want to hear a clicking noise ofcourse.

That's why I asked about a used mp40 in the first place. Looks good, but it seems to be having patent problems. I'll have to wait for sure.

And you're worried about their patent problem, why?
A used MP40 will be ~$300 ... New Jabeo ~$90... What's to think about

Well if it isn't a problem, I will certainly look at buying one. A lot call the jabeos junk but the price is right.

Wife thinks the pump without the cord in the tank would look nice. She is a neat freak and loves the tank. Something to consider.
