For a standard 125.

Not sure what to do with the right side. A tower maybe? The rocks sitting there are leftovers that I might break up. I also have to somehow incorporate the 40lbs of rock already in my 56 . . . that ought to be interesting! :spin1:

Suggestions are, of course, welcome!! I want a spot for a tube 'nem, BTA, maxi-mini "garden", and of course LPS and some SPS. Oh, and there will be a 2-3" sand bed.

Not a huge fan of the arch in the middle...looks too 'fake' to me. I like scapes that look fairly natural. I like everything but the arch. Everything also looks pretty natural, and it looks like you will have a good amount of sand for clams, sand-dwelling corals, etc.

You might also think of adding a tad more rock to the right side. Maybe one of the pieces from the arch.

Not a huge fan of the arch in the middle...looks too 'fake' to me. I like scapes that look fairly natural. It does look somewhat fake, but I do have a thing for arches. Maybe make it smaller and/or lower with a smaller bridge? My thinking was that the bridge will provide more coral real estate. That large piece that is the bridge I'm considering breaking up as well, I'm just afraid it won't break the way I want it to!

There will be more rock on the right, those are leftovers and I have 40+lbs in my current tank.

Thanks so much for the opinions! Keep 'em coming!

Here's my second attempt. I removed the arch, moved that "bridge" to the left side, added a low pass through, and have a small tower on the right. I really like what I have, but I think it needs to go higher and I'm still having trouble figuring out how to incorporate the 40lbs of rock in my current tank into this 'scape.

It doesn't really look like it flows. In other words it looks like you are putting rocks together. I like the cave in the second pic (middle structure). That one looks more "real". I think you should keep messing with it.

I will be in the same boat as you in a few weeks.

Still kind of looks like the rocks are stacked up. Are you going to have sand? If you are maybe you can tilt the rocks into the sand, with an inch or so between them and all leaning the same general direction.(A PVC frame could be made to hold the rock out of the sand, with the PVC hidden under the sand.) Anyway, the look in my mind's eye is the eroded tip of a huge boulder sticking out from under the sand. Placed off center. Just an idea.

avoid sheer verticals...they are pretty much useless for coral growing and mounting. plus you will create shadows and dark spots which only become eye sores later

I think the BRS container under the left rock work really pulls it altogether ;)

Goss, how come shadows and dark spots would become eyesores later? It seems that if they were gonna be an eysore, they'd be an eyesore from the getgo.
