I'm interested in starting my dream build and I'm very interested in purchasing a 200 DD from a LFS. They have one in stock and I was looking it over closely and noticed something weird. I noticed that the brace is siliconed to the front and back of the trop frame. Is this normal? LFS says yes but I'm not sure if they are just telling me that. I thought that a brace would be part of the mold of the top frame. Could someone look at their existing tank I think 150, 200, 250 and 300 are all constructed the same so I would think that they all look like my photo.

Thanks for your help!

is there glass under the plastic?
if glass is under, then the glass is the brace and the plastic is just for glass tops.
if not, then i would be worried because plastic doesnt stick to glass with silicone (structurally it doesnt stick)

That doesn't look right to me. Every Marineland tank I have ever seen has the plastic frame as one integral piece.

I looked at the tank again at the LFS, from the inside out, its the glass, then the brace, then the top plastic frame. With that said, the brace is between the top plastic frame of the tank and the glass ( sandwiched ) in between. Looks ok, but would like some to chime in with their own Marineland DD.

Thanks

I guess I'm going to pass, not worth the risk.
