This is the first Hippo Tang I have ever owned. We have had him for two weeks.
The other day I noticed him scratching against the rocks and he had a few white spots after a few days all spots are gone. He has also stopped scratching.
After reading a few pists I noticed there are quite a few stories like this.
Is there something about their amune system that helps them fight off ich?
It's funny her personality. She has gotten so comfortable. She knows when it's feeding time. The only things I can get her to eat is some of the mycis pieces and she loves Nori.
I rehydrate with tank water and I thinly slice garlic and let it all soak. Then I feed it to her. My fire goby likes it also.

Probably dizzy from swimming in tight circles all day. I see alot of hippos get stressed from not enough swimming area. Great looking tank by the way I love your aquascape.

If you follow a good quarantine procedure you shouldn't have any worries about having the Hippo or any other fish get Ich.

Hippo tangs seem to be more susceptible to Ich than most fish, the term 'Ich Magnet' is often used with these fish.

I have two small Hippo's in my 180, they spent 8 weeks in a 30 gallon quarantine tank before entering the display. They were treated with Cupermine and Prazi Pro. They've been in the display for about 3 weeks and look very healthy.

I agree with the above, great aquascape. What size is the tank?

Thank you both with the compliment. Its a 30 hex. As for the Ich. It's all gone and cleared up
The Hippo Tang is quite small "for now". Dory as my four year old daughter calls her does not seem stressed. What a fun interactive personality, As you can see she also has lots of cave like structure to hide if she sees fit. She use to hide but now, like I said great personality and is very interactive. When she gets to big I will trade her for a small one again or another fish.
Remember we can say a fish "requires" a certain size tank. But in reality they would be much happier inevitably in the ocean. As long as she does not show signs of stress I'll do my best to make her as happy as I can.
Thank you again for your compliments and also thank you for taking the time to respond to my post.
I'm also in the proses in clearing a Dino problem. I did another post named "slime on rocks" The course of action is working well. If you have experience in the matter and would kindly check out my post and share your experience and or help critique what I'm currently doing I would be grateful.

Respectfully
Paul
