Do they come in red, or is this orange or brown?

Brown most likely. Your leds are playing tricks. The more blue the more red it will look.

Orange or yellow is bleached brown.

They look very healthy but its not really an anemone that is gonna pop like a blue or red haddoni.

I think the colors of these anemones can be tampered with very easily. This is my new merten's carpet taken under 14k MH bulb with my iPhone withe the HDR on.

Here is the same photo with HDR off.

For what it's worth under 20k radiums the anemone would show areas of blue with the HDR off.

i wouldnt say that is a brown mertens. i have seen this species be fairly orange in coloration. it wont be as striking as a red haddoni, but due to the extreme rarity of these anemones, i would certainly be happy with an orange one!

Ron,

The colors of mertens are very easy to change with different lightening.

Orange is brown, i have seen about 200 mertens in the last two years and not one has been orange under flash. Only when you have heavy actinic and they are slightly bleached.

I have seen mertens with orange bases but never the top. This looks orange but its faded brown with actinics.

I always considered my first merten's to be yellow, but on closer examination it was more brown with greenish tips.
