I am going to do everything "right" this time and get actual live rock for my next smaller setup. I tried dry rock before and seeding it with live rock. It is okay for a large tank with plenty of established pieces, but I would like some nice fresh live rock this time around. I do not want any dry. I have looked into TBaquatics and also Premium Aquatics Mando live rock. I would appreciate any opinions on "good" live rock. By good, I mean not boulders and plenty of life. In 2006 I had a bad experience with crap live rock. I don't want to go through that again. Thank you for your help. :bounce1:

those two command most of the referrals that I've seen for live rock. i don't think you could go wrong with either.

I tried finding pictures of other people with the Mando on RC, but I haven't been able to find anything. I'd love to see fresh shipments of this in someone's tank. The only thing I don't like about the TB are the pests that come in on it. Esp. the mantis. =( I hear the good outweighs the bad, however. Thank you schatzi for the reply. =)

Hey I have the same issues about live rock. Just kinda nervous about ordering online. I have not been in the reef setup for some time now, so things sure have changed since I last has a reef tank. I am working on setting up a used Fluval edge 12gal into a nano setup. Just getting ready to order new LEDs for it. Anyway if you order anything online MarineGirl let me know how you liked your order.

There is a thread reacently started here with a link to the people who supply mando LR. I think that there may be a problem with sending it by air freight. Do another search for recent LR threads. I believe that what they have noe is boat rock, shipped by container ship.

There has not been an issue of getting any Manado in lately. We had a shipment a few weeks back, and just got in another beautiful shipment late last night via air freight.

Liverocknreef.com they offer more variety than any other place that I know of.

I have zero experience with rocknreef, i'm sure it's some really nice rock. But just FYI... from the rocknreef website...

All of our live rock is shipped wrapped in wet towels, sponges will die off once they are exposed to the air, we try to pull them off prior to shipping.

TBS on the other hand pulls their rock and sand out of the ocean and places it directly into NSW, transports it in NSW, temporarily stores it in NSW and ships in NSW. No towels or newspaper involved. I've seen the whole process first hand. Everything is left intact on the rock and this is what you receive.

And when you buy The Package... you get so much crazy awesome stuff!!! :)

Liverocknreef also ships there rock via air cargo. The primo deco rock has a much life as the stuff posted above.

In fact I know the primo deco is only shipped that way. It is however wrapped in paper.
