Anything that has dimmers that can handle 0-10v signal can be plugged into the variable speed ports. I think the kessels do that. AI sols need a VDM module and a specific cable to plug into the serial port. Radions are just able to turn on and off with the apex. They have their own robust programming software. AI Vegas are wireless and not programmed by Apex as of yet. Check neptunes site they also have multiple "apex ready" fixtures. Apollo solar blast is only one I remember now.

AI Sol / Sol Nano (extremely popular with Apex owners, and work perfectly with Apex control; I used to use a Sol with my Apex)
Acan 600PA and 800PA fixtures made in the last year (I currently use a 600PA Prism, and it is sweet in combination with the Apex & VDM)
Kessil A360W/A360N
Apollo Reef SolarBlast
some BuildMyLED systems
some RapidLED systems
Ecoxotic 100w Cannons with the optional dimmable driver
Any other pre-made or DIY fixture using dimmable driver(s) which accept a 0-10v (or in some cases, a 1-10v) analog dimming control input. 0-10V PWM dimming is *not* supported by Apex.

wow thanks russ, i was looking at the kessil 360w, so this model can be used 100% with apex correct?, in your opinion what would be better to a 90 gal the 360w or the 360n

SanaThe A360 is deemed ApexReady+, which means it has been tested and certified by Neptune Systems to work properly and be fully controllable with the Apex.

I have no idea about which model, W or N. Among other considerations, the shape of that 90 matters... a 90g cube has far different lighting requirements than a 5' long rectangular 90

Oops sorry, its a 48x24x18, i just read that the model "w" has a wide lens for up to 24 inches, so two of this will work

I'm thinking about upgrading my AI SOL to the Hydra unit, do you think there will eventually be an up to control the new light?

We can only hope that there will be. It's really up to AI to make the specs and protocol available to third parties like Neptune, and enough market demand for those third parties to develop the software support and if necessary, the required hardware interface.

This is why I'm hesitating to upgrade from AI Sol to Vega or Hydra. I like very much the controlability of these lights (Sol) with the Apex.

Are any of the cheaper chinese brands compatible with Apex?

I plan on getting the hydra and upgrading from my 4 bulb t5 and 250w Metal Halide, I am getting sick of buying bulbs all the time and swapping them, i think ill hold out until the Hydra is controllable with the apex
