So in the last several months this red Monti Cap has gone from this:

To this:

and since the 250w MH's got replaced by Radions a few months ago it has exploded into this:

It's now to the point I can't get the magnet past it on one side and its very much over shadowing the awesome Welsi on the other.
....so looks like I'm gonna have to bust it up as best I can... :sad1:

When you do bust it up into a few pieces, let me know. I would be interested in a large frag of it.

Wow! A few months you say?
I may be new, but have been reading a lot on RC and elsewhere. I must say I think it is the first time I saw a reefer complain a stoney was growing to fast. LOL
Tank looks awesome! It is great inspiration for me as I am getting ready to set up mine.

If you are looking for a nice size piece, hit up Mudcat1, I think he's looking to sell this whole thing.

He told me it should all come out in one piece attached to only the medium size rock it grew off of.

Yeah, maybe more than "a few" lol but the more coral there is to expand the faster it gets big. It took a almost a year to get it from the a frag to the size in the 1st pic, and maybe 7-8 months from 1st to the 3rd pic. but only about 4 from the 3rd to the last one. And after the light change a lot more of the "character" popped out in it.
In this pic you can see how the birds nest exploded too...

This one is on the other side, and broke when a rock fell on it (about 8 months ago) thanks to the urchin.

Under the 250's it's color looked like this;
A darker tan with the tiniest blue polyps (you had to look hard to see them.

Here's what it looks like now after the lighting change. It turned purple in about two weeks., and it's gonna need to get "another rock fall on it", cause it's almost to the acrylic now too.

Thats very nice growth. I love to see progress like that from LEDs.

Looks good! I am having similar results with montis under LEDs, not as much with other SPS. I think it is the spectrum because some of the newer lights have been said to get good growth on all corals. We will see, but that's my thought anyway.

So far i have been getting great growth and color with most any birds nest. Excellent growth with Blue milli, red planet, and a few others, and not so much with a few torts. Mixed bag on coloration...I think it has a lot to do with placement on that one. Encrusting monti's like superman and sunset seem to love it so far. Favia seem to bleach out quite quickly got to be careful with those, acans are a mixed bag, Most octo corals loving it.
So far I've had more good than bad experiences with them. I definitely like them way better than the AI's....the AI's need to be much higher up IMO. They should offer much wider optics than 70*, or a diffuser type optic like on the pharo's and such.

Well here's what it looks like now :sad2:
http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss40/CarBoy_photos/Dr%20F%20325%20Cube/20130610_190023_zps679b032b.jpg?t=1370917037
I broke one leaf off on the front side that was getting close to the "glass", and then when I tried to get a piece from the other side the whole thing broke off in 1 piece ...oh crap....and had no where to put it to work with it.....have big birds nest right above it.....ahhh.
Managed to break off a few more decent pieces which is what I left to start all over with since I couldn't get the main piece back in place, and it was still too big anyway.
Managed to get the whole thing... barely... into a bucket and down to Marine Solutions without breaking it...that in it's self was amazingly good luck.
They sold it in less than a day. lol
The welsi sure is happy to see the sun again though:

Too much light too quick could shock the brain, keep an eye on it. I only say that because I learned it from experience:headwally:
