Lfs insisted it is Australian but I'm skeptical because it was $100 and only 3in. im not 100% sure on the coloring because of the size but It does have a hint of red coming in on the tail. It was in the store for 3 weeks and ate very well so I figured it would be a great fish either way.

At that size it's not unheard of. I can get large Australians for just over $100.

Where are you located? Probably the closer to California you are the cheaper they can get.

Florida. I was thinking coloration wise I wasn't too sure if it was Australian even though they insisted it was. I heard it is pretty rare to find a small juvenile Aussie

Thanks for the welcome btw. i have been around the site for a while just never signed up and posted. i have had alot of help and learned alot from everything on here. also saved alot of time and money researching everything ahead of time! Anyway does anyone know if the redish tail is a for sure sign it would be Australian?
