I was moving some live rock from my one tank into the fuge on my new tank and when I got the rock out this little guy was in the bucket. I had first thought/hoped it was my boxer crab I put in there a year ago that was just hiding as its about the same size and has the barred body but upon further investigation it clearly is not. This guy has much larger pincers and they have black tips, he also seems to have "hairs" kind of like a decorator crab... I didn't wanna just throw him in the reef till I find out what he is so in the meantime he's in the sump. Any ideas???

I thought there was a species Id section but I didn't see it so if this is not the appropriate section I apologize

Xanthid family. Bad crab. Gorilla or stone crab probably.

It's a species of xanthid crab. Very destructive in our systems. It'll eat snails, hermits and even fish when it gets big enough.
