I don't know where i should post this but i figured chemistry is the best bet....I couldn't resist and went ahead and got the Nitra-Guard Bio cubes. Just want to try them out and see if they really have any affect.

1) Bought 1000ml in quantity for net water volume of 90 Gallons - recommended dosing is 3ml/liter for heavily stocked tanks.
2) soaked for 24 hours in RO water
3) Put them in a bag and placed them under the overflow lines in the sump by the protein skimmer

Current Levels:
Nitrate Levels 20 PPM (Salifert)
Phosphate around 0.03~0.05(ELOS)

now the waiting games begin.

well today its been eight days and i performed my nitrate test.

To my amazement it came around 5~10 PPM.....i haven't done any large water changes either just my regular 5%/week change.

I performed the salifert test twice to be sure and also an API test....i am pretty sure it has lowered my nitrates....i am going to perform another test on Saturday(3 days from now) to confirm again.

I know the literature in the box said that it can start working with in 7 days but i didn't expect such a large change...or maybe i am reading the test wrong?

If i look at this from a low range salifert point of view it mean my nitrates are 50/10 = 5 PPM

So, instead of adding an air stone to the bag you have the bag situated near the oxygenated overflow from the skimmer?
Seems like a great idea.
Keep us updated on Nitrate levels over the coming weeks/months.

so i did another Nitrate Test yesterday and they were barely detectable...I am pretty confident that this product is indeed working for me. I am going to start feeding more and see if it really holds the nitrate levels at a minimum.

Great it dropped the Nitrates that low when your Phosphate was already low? Thought that took the Bio-Cubes, Titanium?

Yeah i am confused about that one as well. The literature says to use titanium if your phosphates are low but i just used the regular ones....i am going to do another test on Saturday along with a phosphate to confirm.
