In the process of setting up a 300 Gallon Deep Dimension. FOWLR. Have really been focusing on what skimmer to buy. Sump is Eshopps RS-300 with a 25" X 13" skimmer area. Trying to stay in the $400 range if possible.

Any experience or recommendations on the below skimmers?
SWC 250 $419.00
Mubble Magus Curve 9 $399.00

Trying to avoid the higher price point but if it makes a HUGE difference I am also considering:
Aquamaxx Cone 5 $699.00
SRO 5000SSS $649.00

I appreciate any feedback or advice.

Thanks in advance!

IMO go with a Aquamaxx EM 500 or a SRO 5000 both are the best of the moderately priced skimmers

I have the SWC 300A (13" diameter cylindrical body with a single Asko pump) on my 250g tank. IMO, it's not too much skimmer, and I only have 7 fish in my tank.

Liking that Aquamaxx EM500 for $599. Great reviews too. I have a HOB-1 on my NC28 and it's a beast! Anyone else have experience with any of these units?

The em series are okay but the cone 5 is better.

13" body seems huge! Not sure that would firing my sump only 16" wide...what is the footprint/price of that bad boy?

Worth the extra $100?

Worth the extra $100?

Absolutely. More contact time, air pull, and better design. There's a reason they call the em series The eco maxx. The cone series is their best.

Just ordered the Cone 5. Found a 15% off coupons so got it for $594.99 - saved $105! Hope this thing rocks - I sure like the other Aquamaxx I have on the nano. Thanks for all the advice! Now on to buying my rock and sand!

The Cone 5 has been on backorder for two months now...any feedback or opinions on the ConeS CO-3?
