No I'dea what they are, where they came from or even where the eggs were laid. I'm going to guess they're dwarf cerith snails.
Still! A victory(and by that i mean free snails) !

I don't know, they might be pyramidal snails, which feed on other mollusks (usually clams, but they can feed on snails as well). Hope I'm wrong, but can't really tell from the pictures.

Well, Good feeling gone. :debi:
Where would they have come from? I don't have clams and I think it's been 2-3 months since I introduced anything to the tank.

I've had stuff grow off of coral frag bases and LR months after being in the tank. It's impossible to know for sure.

Well, They were hanging off my rock earlier and they're not on any of my snails (and I don't have a clam) so, I'm going to call it a win.
I'm not convinced they are pyramid snails, the tip seems to come to a pretty fine point, plus their shells have a cross-hatch pattern whereas most pyramid snail shells I'm seeing Online are vertical lines. And some of the ones I'm seeing are brown about halfway down.

I have Trochus snail babies in my tanks, but never any others. I guess you'll just have to watch 'um and see how they behave.

Yeah when I woke up I didn't see any so they must have buried themselves. I don't see any on my Cowrie, and when the cowrie ran them over they didn't seem to interested in him. They are not on my nass either and I don't have turbos, astrea (is that right? ) or a clam. So when I tear down that tank to move everyone to my 125 if they're still white and small I'll just toss then and invest in a yellow wrasse.

Most likely they are Rissiod snails. Very common hitchhiker that reproduces easily in our tanks. They look very similar to piramid snails, there are ways to tell the difference under magnification, or you can just look at where they go & what they eat. If they are mainly on the rocks & glass munching on algea, they are rissoid snails (beneficial algae eater).
