Does anyone have an idea of what these are? They grew all over my reactor pump and I see them growing on the sides of my sump and skimmer. I'd like to get rid of them if possible. Thanks for any help.

I get them too, always thought the were like a vermentid snail.

Looking at you pic again, you have a ton. I only notice one here and the on equipment. I don't know if that's good or bad.

I have vermentid snails as well but they tend to be larger and it's pretty much impossible to move those other than crushing the shell. These are small and seem to be all over but you can scrape them off pretty easily if not for the amount I seem to be getting.

Some sort of filter feeder that forms it's own tube. If you were to shine a flashlight on the pump in the water you might see them I bet.

I get them all over the powerheads as well, not so much in the sump. I always thought they were vermatid snails. Still do. They all come off when I give the pumps a vinegar bath.

Look into the crevices and underhangs of your rock in the DT. If you see the same "needles", then thay are all vermatid snails.

Definitely vermetid snails, just little ones.

Although they ***** your fingers/hand when you squeeze what they are on, like when you are cleaning the pumps in your sump, I think they are beneficial filter-feeders.

I just checked because of the above suggestion, and with a flashlight I could see they were all tiny tube worms of some kind...like mini white/clear feather dusters.

Can you check with a flashlight?
