I ordered what was said to be Scorpaen caribbaeus, but doesn't appear to be. Any ideas?

That's not Scorpaenodes caribbaeus, for sure. Can't hazard a guess without better photos...a whole-fish side view and profile or 3/4 view head shot would be best.

About 2". And it came from the Keys. Didn't know ambons occurred there, but this sure looks like one.

Most likely a Scorpaena plumieri especially if its from the keys

Nice fish, but they do get large.

Nice fish.
What size tank is it in? Since those get beastly huge.

34g. I figure I got a year and a half or so before I'll have to give him up.

DD actually has a really sweet little scorp listed, but it's SMALL...would be tuff to feed it unless you've got some pods, guppy fry, or mad weaning skills.
