I installed my 57 watt unit yesterday and after I leak tested it, it leaked at the ez twist cap. So I reseated the oring inside and leak tested again. Every thing was fine so I installed it. Now tonight I have a very slow leak from the ez twist cap. It's like a drop an hr. I am so frustrated because the leak test was fine. Now I have to uninstall this thing and try and fix it.
My question is. Is there a groove that the black o ring fits Into in the ez twist cap or does it just sit flush on the PVC? I hand tightened this thing pretty tight already. If there's grooves in there than I def didn't do it right.

The leak is more like a drop every 7 hrs. It gets water around the seal.

can you use teflon tape on the leaking part to stop the leak?

A drop every 7 hours should dry itself out and seal. That said, I'd try some vasalene or other liquid (non hardening) sealant on the o rings. That should fix it. Make sure you apply some around the orings that go on the sleeves.

Good call, so far it hasent leaked at all today. Last night there was a slight drip and it appears to have stopped as you said. I hope it stays that way. I was dredding tearing it apart again. If it does leak it's like a drop every 24 hrs it would seem because the first drop took a whole day. In order to Teflon tape it, won't I have to unscrew the cap or just tape around the seal?
What about plumbers grease. I have used it in the past on salt creep areas around my skimmer before and no more salt creep.
