After not wanting a QT, I realized I have to use one if I want any chance at success with a Reef Tank.

Petco is offering their dollar per gallon deal so I picked up a 29G and stand for $40.

This will be strickly for new/sick fish so that I can use Copper based products if needed. I read ich infected fish need to be in QT for 8-10 weeks.

I have a MaxiJet 900 that I can use as the powerhead.

Questions:
1. Do you guys use sand? I was thinking just have it plain bare glass.
2. What type of cheap, or minimal filtration product do you recommend? Do I need to run carbon, etc...?
3. Do I need a light? I'm thinking of leaving it open top, no light, just ambient light which is good ambient lighting throughout the day.

I have a heater as well. I am not going to be using any type of sump for this.

I appreciate your input!

No sand, use pvc fittings for places to hide.
