57 gallon rimless build

hey reef central :dance:

after all the months spent reading on this website for info and tips for my build I put it all to test setting this tank together.

after having it sit in my moms place for a year untouched
I gathered all my equipment and now I have it running and it is ALIVE. *johnnyfive voice lol
tank started 3/19/13

only thing that was setting me back on posting / making this build thread.
was not owning an actual computer nor laptop lol.

well today it has happened ..

any who to list the equipment i have on this tank.
here it goes ... comments , hate , opinions are all grateful.

i have the 57 deep blue edge
custom made stand (by me)
custom led fixture made by my lfs.
atm one mp10 wireless.
custom sump by lfs as well
about 35 lbs of pukani dried rock from bulkreef.
40 lbs of Fiji pink live sand.
ehiem return pump.
bubble magnus curve skimmer
phosban reactor running rowaphos.

as you can see the tank wasn't clean but it was deff a work in progress. also that sump I had bought it used for 30 bucks but wanted something cleaner.

once I started staining it.

the stand all done and my new sump !! returned to the old one and got store credit towards this one.

after the stand was complete I started painting the back of the fish tank with black flat spray paint .

came out better than I thought . lol but here it is with sand and me playing around with my rock scape .. also the mp10 is mounted..

It was a big thought in my head for a while that I wouldn't put doors on the stand cause it would make it kinda hard for me to work under the stand so I just bought more wood stained it and its just a cover. I got magnetic clips and just put it on n take it off easier. I will post more pics soon.

sadly they didn't make it but they looked nice and I felt bad cause my girlfriend bought me the fish as a birthday gift. but I don't think my tank was cycled all the way when she bought them .

this is it not to long after but i have again changed the rock work made it more flat so when i have more zoas i can make a nice garden..

everything in my tank is testing good and my zoas and gsp are growing .
those two sps frags you see in the pic were my test frags this store that closed down had them for 14.99 lol

yeah i know but that was about 3 weeks into the set up and my rock was all dry so it took longer . my tank has been running strong now and i have not lost any fish since.

Nice start, l'd be a little cautious adding more corals, test out your tank and see how they do, going too fast too soon can result in a tank crash.

i know what you mean but ive been taking it easy i have 4 zoas frags , 2 chalices the gsp and that's it. and a Duncan but the last coral i added was last month and it was a single polyp rasta which has two heads growing on it already. :beer:

but i see the thread is getting a lot of views but i do have questions.
the only thing i have not added to my tank is amino acids...
do i need to? i mean i just found out i should.
i feed Mysis shrimp , oyster feast , and plankton and the seaweed for the tang.
that's ??
how much of a big role does it play.

You don't need to add amino acids just keep your parameters stable and keep doing water changes and your tank will be healthy.

tank looks great. i actually bought a house and downgraded. lol the only reason was everything died in the move to the new house. so i sold the big tank and just upgraded the equipment. lol my plan is like your buy and grow out a bunch of frags 180 or larger and upgrade.

ive thought about my next tank upgrade and it will deff have to be the oceanic 120 gallon 48x24x24 or the deep blue version . I think it will be great and some of my equipment will still be usable .

my single rasta polyp I added 6/9/13 which I can see it already growing two heads on each side.. notice this is when I added it to my tank.
ill see if I can get some pictures of live stock..
