I just used the hanna checker and it shows my calcium at 600, alkallinity at 101. Whats the best way to lower the calcium and raise the allkalinity ? Do i just dose alkalinity for now and wait for it to come down ? thanks in advance!

Water changes with water that has the levels where you want them. That's probably the easiest way on you, your corals, and your wallet

How did you get your calcium that high? and I am assuming the alk is 10.1
Before anything check it using something else

Double check and then water changes. When you raise your alkalinity your calcium will naturally drop. Corals are much more sensitive to alk swings then calcium so just focus on that.

Yup water changes and stop dosing whatever got it that high in the first place. I had my Ca even higher and thought I had a faulty kit. (Purple-up, that's why you shouldn't dose what you don't test for).

Ca that high can do some big damages to some corals. I still have a green cabbage that is alive but still has not grown at all, and that was a year ago. Some others weren't affected but I had a lot of trouble with Ca being that far off.

Actually I think tha alk is actually 5.656 there's a conversion that need to take place to get a useable value. So I would say its low

I'd check your results with another test kit before doing anything. The Hanna calcium checker is notorious for being inaccurate. Also, assuming that the alk of 101 is the reading directly from the meter, (ppm), that equates to 5.65 dKH. These numbers could be accurate, I just wouldn't want you to make any rash decisions based on questionable test results.

Don't trust Hannah threw all mine away the first time using them

The alk Hanna is good I wouldn't count on the calcium there's too much room for error on those

all i have to say about this is Magnesium.

one must understand how magnesium balances the two.
if the cal checker is wrong, i would still test for mag.

Definitely double, even triple check the values before you go chasing numbers that may not be anywhere near as out of whack as you think.
I have the Hanna ALK checker, and find it to be reliable with results close to my Salifet kit.
