The picture is a little blurry. Most bristle worms I have seen are long and thin, but the outside has that characteristic furry appearance.

I would post it in the sticky above about hitchhikers.

I am going with a big a** bristle worm.....don't put it back in your tank. Its distorted because of the bag and its retracted.

Ive already put it back in the tank. Chances of finding it are slim to none. The guy that had the tank didnt even know it was there. We found it in the substrate.

They are good for the tank, just ugly to look at.

I HATE those things!! Only way to find the big ones is to take rock out and rinse holes till it falls out. I found this one... all I gotta say about big bristle worms is EWW!

Never seen one that big. I'd be afraid to sleep in the house with it.

My rule of thumb is even if it is good for the tank but it scares the Mrs, kiddos, or even you it has to go!!

I wouldn't have put it back. I have one that's probably that size and it ended up killing my Purple Firefish. I'm still trying to get it out.

Just a heads up if you do go the route of removing rock to get rid of the brisstleworms wear some decent rubber gloves. I got tore up about 3 months ago when i took some rock out to bake it before i started my re-build. Not a very good feeling i know that.

+1 on not wanting to sleep in the same house as that thing. DEF a large one.

Id say get a trap but damn that thing is bigger then the trap I have. I have heard mixed thoughts of having them in the DT. I think I have cleared them out of my DT but do see a few in my sump.

They keep the detritus from collecting inside the rocks, so in that fashion they are good.
Think of them as the buzzards of the aquarium.....eating the dead stuff.

That is the mother of all bristle worms. Very cool, I'm a fan of bristle worms.

Geesh that's one helluva Bristle Worm!!
I DO think they get a bad rap though. They're helpful, if not a pain if you touch them by accident. :eek1:
