Im confused between NW-200-6540B or RO-PS-2000 INT or RO-PS-3000INT

Im going for more than double size coz i dont want my fishes hungry + the stocking will be on the heavier side and i dont want a refuge, jus a skimmer and a return in the sump.

I cant go for any other brand, coz we only have reefoctopus dealer in my country...

what are u confused about? go with the most powerful skimmer you can afford or get to fit.

i would go with the 3000 int and do some sort of carbon dosing.. bio-pellets or vinegar/vodka

I dont want anything else other than a skimmer, jus wana keep it simple...... carbon dosing had made a huge bacteria bloom in my tank, so im not doing it....... some say biopellets remove po4 too, is that true? coz iv seen many still use GFO with it..... and if going for such a huge skimmer, dont u think its enough? its more than double

The SRO 2000 will be plenty for your tank. the 3000 will be overkill, and likely stay idle and not remove anything due to the neck size.

+1 on the SRO 2000 INT.

Make sure your sump design is able to keep it at a shallow depth around 6".

from what ive read ,seen and experienced it is best to oversize your skimmer. it is ok to have an idle skimmer.

even thought the 2000 might be ok. why not go bigger? then if you ever upgrade to a larger tank you still have enough skimmer.

i might never upgrade...... my only thing is i dont wana add anything other than a skimmer and a filtersock for filteration..... but im sure ill overstock.....atleast 20 fishes, half 4" half 6" and maybe 1 or 2 8"

The 2000 is plenty for your system. The 3000 is an overkill and will just sit idle most of the time and not skim because there's not enough organically in the water for the large skimmer neck.

Having an oversized skimmer is not good for the system unless you carbon dose.

Well iv seen people like Mark Callahan using double the size for his reef tanks.... do u mean it wont skim at all? can i go for NW-200-6540B?

100+" of fish in a 125  Get the big skimmer!

I have 1x8", 1x6", 2x4" and 2x3" fish in a 150g and I thought I was pushing it! (3x Tangs, 1 HTF, 1 Angel and a Cinnamon Clown fish). My skimmer is rated to 3 x the tanks volume and it's rarely idle. I feed heavily 2-3 x a day but also use 3-4 cups of pellets to keep the n03 low. Had 2 blooms initially but they went away quickly and never harmed anything.

Don't trust the rating to size the skimmer to your tank, even when going 1.5x, 2x, or 3x. In the end you're still making guesses based off a number that's usually inaccurate to begin with. Instead we look at things like body volume, neck diamater, air draw, and water draw to determine what a skimmers ideal volume would be. In the case of your tank the 2000 is actually still a little on the large side for your tank, being that I wouldn't put it on anything less than a 120g. The ideal volume for it being closer to 150g. If the tank was lightly stocked it could easily handle a 180g.

Now, I do agree with the poster above about needing a big skimmer for your stocking list, but considering most of those fish won't survive, it won't be necessary. I really recommend you post in this thread about your stocking list:
