ABS or PVC?

I want to put some abs or pvc pipes in my frag tank, but don't know if they're harmful like excreting substances or chemicals. I would prefer to use abs since it is already black. Which one is better? Also should I drill holes into them so water can pass through them? Thanks for the help.

ABS or PVC are both fine. I would drill a couple holes.

Pvc. Some of the abs i see at home depot or lowes has mini air pockets in the plastic and would just float to the top.
