ABS or PVC?

I want to put some abs or pvc pipes in my frag tank, but don't know if they're harmful like excreting substances or chemicals. I would prefer to use abs since it is already black. Which one is better? Also should I drill holes into them so water can pass through them? Thanks for the help.

I've read mixed reviews about ABS.. From what I've read though people have not had any problems...

If you wanted to be really safe you can just paint PVC with krylon.. PVC is an industry standard.. Of you can get sch80 that's gray.

What are you using it for that you want to drill holes?
