Iodine dip and cut the wall hammer in half. That section has brown jelly disease and most likely won't make it

1/2" piece now is bone white, no brown jelly ever, just dead skeleton, do you cut 1st then dip or vice versa?
the rest of the hammer looks great, dont want it to spread.

Also try to suck out the dead tissue using the tubing for a water change. Moderate flow helps too IME.

I'd cut then dip. Agree with mod flow, low flow can cause it to spread.

what does the lugol's dip actually do?. I just dipped it after I cut the dead stuff off for 30 minutes. its still a decent size piece.

Its iodine, a disinfectant. Sounds like you just preformed surgery. Hope it does ok

Any updates? I had one that I put in my dads tank a few weeks ago and came to visit to find that it had dipped over into the sand and the half that was buried dead. Not sure what to do...

Dose the tank with Iodide if you don't for 3 days straight and then dose as a habit at least every 2 weeks. Happened to me and about 4 of my eups were hit with whatever it was. Nothing worked. Not even Luigi's. The iodide was the only thing that worked. Weird but it felt as if my frogspawns and hammers were just going one head at a time until they fell off the skeleton. Good luck.
