Have purple cyanobacteria in my 190 gallon tank on 1/3 of the rocks. Have had two prior episodes each time I put some type of antibiotic(?) in the tank killing it rapidly.
I have a center overflow with "T" water return. Ends of the T stir up the water at the top to increase air exchange. Also, have a big powerhead that stirs up the water.
Current water parameters:
Salinity 1.025
pH 7.8
dKH 8-9
Ca 270 (just had a water change a week ago added calcium today)
Mg 1845 (end stages of battle with bryopsis and winning!)
Nitrate 0
pO4 0-0.025
Any ideas about this issue? Is it oxygenation? Is there a probe to check O2 somewhere?
Have 2 anemones a number of soft corals and fish, everything seems to be thriving. Not sure what the issue could be.
