2 days ago i got a new duncan frag. After acclimating it and doing a dip it opened up fully yesterday. Looks like it was doing well. Today it was still open. I added 2 zoa frags and a chalice frag to the tank. When i came back hours later, the duncan was completely in hiding. The Corals aren't that close to one another. What can possibly be the problem? Or do Duncans go into hiding at night time?

Give it some time to get used to the tank.

Nothing to worry about, yet.

+1 let it adjust to the new tank, if problem persists then you can begin to worry.

+3 resist the temptation to start moving it around. Just let it be, should be fine.

I have about a 8 head duncan, that some times just goes into hiding for several days to a week. Can never figure it out. I'm looking at it now and its fully open...

I discovered what I feel might be the answer to why it's in hiding. Whenever i feed, i have a blood fire shrimp that crawls over all my corals just to get into the food. All my corals go into hiding when that happens. My corals are on the sand bed acclimating, should i start moving them on the rocks so the shrimp wont get to them as much?

My cleaner shrimp does the same thing and let me tell you, that unless you move the corals to a different tank, he'll just find them again after they are moved. Mine is a bulldozer during feeding time, but he doesn't do any damage to the coral. It just makes them a little cranky. :D

The shrimp will find them no matter where you place them in the tank, if you're spot feeding them then you can try the bottle method.

Just even using flake food for the tank, the shrimp just go everywhere and scare the corals.
