Can I use a strip of mylar bag for grounding sump. Will the Mylar leach anything into the system?

Mylar is a pretty stable polymer. It shouldn't leach.

That's what I kind of thought. Thank you. We use it to tie flies for saltwater fishing. so I thought it might be OK

Do you have the tank on a GFCI circuit?

+1 on the GFCI

To my knowledge, the reflective coating on mylar is aluminum, so it should conduct (and corrode) like aluminum. It's thin enough that it may corrode enough to break the conductivity. The plastic part should be inert.

If you're that concerned about grounding your tank, I'd get a titanium grounding probe.
