Hi,

I was thinking about putting some bio max media into a filter media bag and putting in my display tank. My display tank has live rock and has cycled.

I want to setup my QT so i was thinking about using the filter bag idea to seed my QT. Unfortunately I don't have a sump to put the filter bag in, so I'll just place it in the actual tank.

I also know I can use a sponge from my external canister filter i'm running. But I'm wondering if it would be able to seed the QT using the method described above?

Let me know what you guys think....thanks!

Yes, bacteria will colonize it if you place it in your DT.

Hey thanks....do you think 2 weeks in the DT is long enough for bacteria to colonize?

Yes. Exact numbers are difficult to predict, but two weeks will do it. One week usually will suffice, I always shoot for at least 10 days.
