I recently made a 60" long aquarium stand for my new reef setup, It turns out that the tank I ordered is 72" long.
Do any of you know how I can expand it?, or will it be fine with the edges of the tank hanging off?http://i1078.photobucket.com/albums/w481/MARINECRITTERS/IMG_9999_zps3f01781d.jpg

I would never advocate leaving the edges hanging off the ends, you are asking for bad things to happen, the tank will crack. You should be able to either take apart your stand and rebuild it, or add extra framing to that, and it should be strong enough to support everything, just make sure that everything is level.

if the tank is too big for the stand dont risk letting it hang over the edge. rebuild so you feel safer

ok, I really only have to replace four 2x4's.
Should be pretty easy

NO, NO, you definitely don't want to do that. It should be simple enough to extend the stand, though if I were you I would replace the plywood top with a continuous piece rather than patching it.
