Anyone know why this green algae is growing on the live rock in my sump but not in the main display? Just started using a 5000k LED bulb from Home Depot a little over a week ago and it's on for 12 hours a day.

As long as it doesn't grow on the DT i wouldn't worry about it, you can put snails in the refugium to eat the algae

Actually my friend that is whats called a refugium, what you are trying to do is grow algae in your sump so this algae can compete with any algae you have in your display tank, since the algae in your sump/refugium eats your nitrates and or phosphate faster than it can go into your DT, you will never have an algae problem in your DT, since it wil starve to death

+1, that's chaetomorpha, it's the best thing to have in your refugium :)

Oh I meant on far right side and far left side of the photo, there is a lighter green algae that just started popping up a couple of days ago. But I guess it's not a bad thing if it doesn't go up to the main display. Thanks for the replies.

That one's kind of hard to see in the pic, so not too sure on what to do with it. Also, you may wanna leave that light on for 18 hours instead of 12, works much better.
