I posted this under "reef discussion" so I hope people smarter then myself respond.
But seriously, what is the right and what is the wrong way of doing things (based off your own personal experiences)?

A right way to........? Acclimate coral? Acclimate fish? Do a water change? Keep a reef tank in general? Your question seems very vague, perhaps being a little more specific might yield a proper response. There are many different ways of doing many different things in this hobby. If your looking for a set in stone sure fire exact way of doing a specific thing or just to keep a saltwater aquarium in general, you might be hard pressed to find an answer. Sure there are lots of proven methods of things that work and things that clearly don't but even that gets grey with the more people you talk to. I would personally just agree that there are some tips and general guidelines that will help anyone on there way. Just my $0.02

Very vague question so response may be unlimited.
Seriously though I don't think there are many straight out 100% right or wrong ways to do anything in this hobby. I actually think there are very few. That may be why there is so many of us on forums and such letting everyone know our real life experiences so we can draw our own conclusions based on what we see, what we have, and what others tell us?
I know that is what I go on.

Perhaps you are meaning, "in your experiences what has worked for you and what hasn't in keeping your reef tank ?"

No one right way to reefing. A multitude of different ways to skin this cat in my opinion.

I guess the wises word in this hobby is slow.....get as much info on any subject as you can before commiting, because in the end its will cost you money. Yes slow; you can't go wrong if you go slow, as for the rest a multitude of options.Cutting corners on the guide lines is not a good idea either. my 2 cents.

First read a couple of books and start with the basics, in time you will know what to do and dont do, patience is the key
Oh and the basics are, water changes, testing to keep parameters withing range, buying the right equipment (i said right equipment, not the most expensive), etc
