While watching my tank tonight my neon damsel(allen's damsel) kept swiping at my hermits. Is this because it is getting territorial? hungry? Or is it not anything to worry about, my hermits are still alive. Just thought it was odd, never seen it do that before.

Damsels are just a mean type of fish

It requires about 100 gallons space. It may be feeling cramped, if in a small tank; it may be hungry. It may be bored. It may just be curious. Without more data, I can't give you a better answer.

Yeah, kind of what i knew already, was being naive because he seemed to do pretty well, i had him for about a month and i liked having him, very social fish. But today went to lfs traded him in (successfully put in their display) and bough a green clown goby.

So ya problem solved! May not be as social but just as entertaining likes to perch on rock or the back wall.

Just took my damsel back to lfs, could not add anything without being attacked.
