OK. i recently got a huge colony of purple cap. It is too big to fit in my 120 gal tank, if you can imagine, and is currently in a smaller tank until i can figure out what to do with it. I really would like to keep it intact and not to chop it up. It would be such a shame to do so. This coral cost me gas money and an hour's drive, that's it.

What would you guys do? Give the whole piece to someone, or break it up so several reefers can benefit?

That's in a 20 gal tank and around 12". Has some GSP and zoos attached to it.

Seems that you really only have a few options

1 - Make room in your 120 gallon for the colony
2 - Frag down the colony to the size you can fit in the 120
3 - take a small frag and start it in your 120, leave the rest in the 20gal and/or make some more frags to share.

Yeah, frag off a piece from the nicest section and sell off the rest making back your money. That stuff grows quick.

Yes, this will be cut up to give to my local club. I did not pay a penny so it doesnt seem right to sell.
