I am setting up my rock and would like to build in some over hangs. I want to know how strong reef epoxy is for bonding live rock together.

This picture is an exaggeration but will it hold like, ...Aragocrete?

umm i would use zip lock and clear rod just to be safe

That would take a massive amount of epoxy to hold

Personally I'd be inclined to drill your rocks, pin them with something like acrylic rods, then use some hydraulic cement. :)

I have built something similar and used "QUIKRETE 5-Gallon Hydraulic Water Stop Concrete Repair". It works amazingly and dries in minuets and its not toxic. I have put pieces together and added to my existing reef within an hour and did not harm anything and its pretty cheap as well.

I've heard acrylic rods get brittle after some time. Better to use fiberglass rods.

No way I would try that with putty. [yes I have used 5-6 sticks of it]
Drill it use the fiberglass rods as suggested [driveway marker=cheap] use mortar or concrete to reinforce. Especially under the overhang where it connects.
