I am considering adding a second Vortech to run the pumps in a master slave arrangement in my 120. I have a 40, should I go with a second 40 or a 10. I have seen write ups whith both.......just trying to get opinions and pros and cons.

I would go with another 40 just incase you eventually upgrade in the future...

I have two 40s in my 48x24x16 and it's perfect. I have them running reef crest anti sync at about 75% and everything looks happy. I think you're missing out on the major bonuses of the vortech pumps without 2 of them

I 1000% agree u need another MP40. Hopefuly u got the wireless version and you can run them together. I run mine 2 MP40s in Reef Crest anti sync mode as well.

I have a custom made 120G 48x30x20 mixed Reef tank and at one point I thought 2 MP40 s weren't enough.

The key is to put them not facing each other on opposites side of the glass, but to position them a little off (one towards the front, and one towards the back) to create some sort of"gyro" flow going.

The flow pattern needed is going to change depending on your tank dimensions, coral needs and aqua escape but you just have to adjust accordingly...

Hope this helps.

2 MP40w's is the way to go, should be perfect in your tank.

Also a mp 10 may not fit on the glass. A 120 glass may be too thick for he magnet.
