I am building a new stand for my frag tank and underneath will hold my 30 gallon top off can. I will no longer be able to open the lid to look in so I wanted to create a water level gauge on the outside of the can. My idea is to use the quick connect fittings and tubings that you see on RO/DI units and find a clear tubing to go from the bottom of the can to the top. My problem is that I cannot see to find any that are a bulkhead (preferably a 90 deg bulkhead). Is there such a thing? A bulk head to pull tight and be leak free on one end and a 90 deg quick connect on the other. I could put one on the top and one on the bottom and then just run a straight piece of clear tubing between the two.

If there is no such thing as a bulkhead per se how well do you think silicone will hold up under the pressure? The guy at home depot seem to think it would be fine but I was skeptical. They had one that was threaded on one end but the hardware section did not have any nylon nuts to screw onto it. If I have to go the silicon route I guess I will just try and lightly bend the tubing upwards.

What are your thoughts? What would you recommend?

uniseals?

You're right to question the guy at Home Despot.

Uniseal would probably be the easiest - put a uniseal at the base of the container, then either a street elbow with a threaded adaptor and a threaded john-guest fitting into that, or a threaded-slip elbow with a stub of pipe to go into the uniseal and a threaded john-guest directly into the elbow.

Wow, I had never heard of uniseal but I watched a video on BRS. Seems pretty simple.

1/2" is the smallest BRS sells, that should be fine, right?

Drain for my DI water tub - 1" uniseal with a pvc street elbow through it. Hasn't leaked yet!

Should be able to drill a hole and tap for 1/8 pipe threads then just screw in a John guest fitting. I've been considering doing the same thing on my RODI barrel.

Yoy don't need anything too fancy.

What about:

And a length of airline?

How do you propose tapping a piece of plastic that's only 1-2 mm thick?

To the OP, I found this (http://shopping.yahoo.com/735163527-tank-connector-15mm/), that might work.

the nice part about using a uniseal is that you dont need to reach inside to put on the lock nut.

otherwise if you wanted to use a bulkhead, use 1/2" threaded bulkhead, 1/2" to 1/4" pvc bushing, then 1/4" npt to 1/4" john guest fitting, find some 1/4" acrylic tube
