If I may comment....this is a completely hysterical and false representation of the truth...but what else can we expect from the ABC which is viciously anti-everything.

The small scale mining operation (concluded with the PERMISSION of the local Indigenous Land-owners) passed all the environmental hurdles placed there by the PREVIOUS Government. For heavens sake !!..Abbot has only been Prime Minister for 3 days, how possibly could he, his Party or his Policies be in any way to blame or to be implicated in this decision.

What Abbot intends to do is to re-vamp some of the massively ineficient and cumbersome processes that accompany economic development in Aus.

To suggest that ANY Government of Australia would willingly and knowingly contrive to destroy the Great Barrier Reef is ludicrous.

Let's be very careful about discussing politics here. Makes no difference that it's another country's. It's not allowed.

No intention of discussing politics...just that there are several articles stating what the above article mentions...I thought it was interesting and IF true, very sad.
