I just bought 3 radion gen2... is there a way to get rid of that disco light affect in the tank? Its pretty annoying

You mean the shimmer? If so no you can't. That is just the nature of the light. Metal halide also does this. If you want a "picture" type lighting go with t5's

I knew they would shimmer but I did not if you could get rid of the rainbow colors that refect on the sand

I have seen this from Radions, but it was more pronounced in shallower systems. If you have separate diodes you'll have some degree of disco. If you really can't stand it, you could return the Radions and get 3 Kessil A350/360 and pocket the difference (or get 4).

EDIT: side note, I wonder if anyone has modded frosted lenses onto a Radion, seeing as the inclusion of frosted lenses in the AI Hydra significantly reduced the disco found in the Vegas...

tune down your red and green led's. When your red/green led's are at max or close to maxed out, the disco effect is very pronounced.

Are these you first LEDS? I think the Radion has a mild Disco compared to the others I have seen. I had Sols and it was way worse. I was strongly considering Kessils but after seeing a few it was if there was too much shimmer and it was distracting. I too was coming from T5's and when I hung my first Radion I said to my self "oh no, what did I do." After a couple of days I began to like them more and more.

Just calculate your bulb replacement and electrical savings and you'll forget all about that disco :)

I think you should find some used lenses and trial frosted Radion lenses for us! :D

How high off the water do you have the fixtures? A photo would really help, too.

they are in acclimation mode about 12 inches off the water... if I can get my hand on some I will do a trial run with some lenses
