These are initial thoughts on putting together my 245 system.
Just want to run it by you guys for more insight on what I'm forgetting and where I can improve.
Thanks in advance for your info/advice.
Initial Equip/Plans/stocking for 245g Reef Tank
Equipment
1. 245gal- 72x30x26 (Great Lakes Aquarium) with center overflow drilled 3 Drains and 2 separate returns, 36” furniture grade stand (inquire about having additional end doors)
2. LED lighting system (Ecotech, Aqua Illumination,Vertex?)
3. Trigger System Ruby Elite Sump (Trigger Systems-Customize the Elite)
(consider 48 x 24 x 18-20 inches high with the fuge section being an ATO H2O holding tank with approx. 30-35 gallons of RODI)
4. Reef Dynamics Protein Skimmer INS350 model check to see footprint fits sump area
5. Dual Ehiem Compact (3000 or 5000 model) submersible pumps for returns. (redundancy)
Also check out Water Blaster pumps at Premium Aquatics
(check to see pump outlet size and what return on overflow size is)
6. Dual heaters of appropriate size. (redundancy)
7. Necessary plumbing parts, drain hoses, nylon tubing, clamps etc.
8. Neptune Apex Controller with lab grade pH probe.
9. Tunze Osmolator ATO or similar
10. Look into Rubbermaid Brute 20-30 gallon can for ATO RODI water placed in stand or include into custom Trigger systems sump.
11. 4-5 stage RODI unit of 150 gal/day or better.
12. 2 Vortech MP60ES with controller or similar for in tank turbulent flow or consider Tunze on Sea Sweeps.

14. 4 Slim gallon dosing containers (Bulk Reef Supply ie BRS)

16. Screen kits1/4 or1/2 inch mesh to prevent jumping fish (BRS)
17. Hanna Ca, Alk and Mg checkers (BRS
18. Milwalke Salinity Checker (BRS)
