Hi. This algae started popping up and now spreading around my rocks. I am unable to find much info on what it is and how to rid it. Any help I appreciate.
My parameters are:
Phos-.02
Nitrate-0
Alk-8.4 (working on that)
cal-410 (also working on that)
Mag-1400
lights-dawn/dusk from 12:00-10:00pm
lights-daytime-from 1:00-9:00pm
flow-mp40 and mp10
skimmer
gfo/carbon in a reactor

My tang and coral beauty hit at this stuff but not diminishing it.

if it's hard and crusty, it could be coralline

It's a coralline-like species of algae. Possibly Peyssonnelia sp. http://www.saltcorner.com/AquariumLibrary/browsespecies.php?CritterID=2127

I had it growing in some places in my tank and then it just kind of faded away.

It's kinda squishy... I took westside of my mp40 off and toothbrushed it and some came off. It's not really like coraline

lobo looks kinda plating to me. This is more like a moss youd see at the base of a tree. I have some on one of my conches as well ....

Lobophora doesn't necessarily have to plate. I've seen it start out as small brown spots on the rock first. Kind of like what you have. Lets hope it's not though. This stuff can be a PITA to get rid of. GL.

Urchin can be a bull in a china shop. They also can strip the coralline algae off the rocks depending on type.

Ok I took the chance and added a tuxedo. He is chomping his way through whatever this is. I am not too concerned with my coralline...save me some alk/cal.
