Does anybody have a tank populated with a single species of stony coral? As if one were at a section of a reef which has been overrun by stag or antler coral...?
I'm thinking of restarting my 75 as a single species tank.
I'd love to see a picture of those who're doing this.

I think a tank with just hyacinthus or milleporas of assorted colors would be quite spectacular to see.

Agree Ron. I'm thinking the Bonsai like minimalism of perhaps one color spreading out over a white sand bed with a few fish hovering over it would be like an island in the middle of nowhere and as a result, striking.
I'm currently looking at so many tanks (including my own last set-up!) and while the masses of colonies are beautiful, there are so many different colors and shapes, it's hard to differentiate any individuals.

I have always wanted to make a single species sps tank. I wanted to make it full Acro. tortuosa

I managed to save a photo of Welles' montipora reef.

BAROS! Thanks! Pretty much exactly what I was thinking about: some elevation off the sand and some height above it. I'm really liking this, even tho there ares some greens mixed in.... ;-)

This would be an awesome concept for a cube. Just place it dead center and let it grow kind of like a bonsai tree. Just trim it when it gets to close to the sides.

Yes! That's EXACTLY the idea. Although I want to do it in the middle of a relatively BIG tank, like a 400, surrounded by lots of sand.
