How do you usually keep up with element(calcium, alk, mag) demands of like 1-2 corals at a time? Also what about PH?
Also is it very hard to keep nutrients under control?

same way as a reef tank.

test KH and CA++, and dose if needed.
PH will follow KH.

no fish, so no worry about nutrients.

Note, if you dont keep up with kh needs, corals will weaken, and will be more "open" to parasites attacking it.

For a QT tank with a couple of SPS just do a WC.

On a 10 gallon tank, I wonder if 2 gallon water changes or just dosing would be better

I change water out of my display into my coral QT with every water change. I have a halide on it as well as a calcium reactor (which barely runs). I treat it like a real reef without fish. I use snail, but no shrimp in case I have to interceptor something.

I know a guy who keep a melanurus wrasse in his, which I have really thought about since they are really good with nudis and flatworms.

but when you add water from your tank, you are also adding in nutrients from a tank that has fish... right?
