I have a new BRS dual reactor. FOr the GFO I am starting small with ~60 grams (2 oz) of granulated. I put both foam discs on top of the GFO "to hold it in place" as the instructions say. I find that when I turn it on, even at less than full pressure, It eventually just pushes the the discs and half the GFO to the top. The rest of the GFO swirls around at the bottom. What gives? Too little GFO?

I thought the discs were for the carbon side?

One disc on bottom of container and one at the top and it should tumble well. I don't have the top disc right on the gfo but near the top
What pump are you using

With my 2LF I had the disk, sponge, GFO sponge and then disk.

Run the BRS dual and run the GFO with the disc on the bottom and another at the top so there is room for it to tumble in between the discs. As for the Carbon side I reversed the flow through the chamber so the water flows down through it and put both discs above the carbon so it wont flow to heavily onto the carbon.

My foam disks floated to so I replaced it with two screen discs. No floating any more

I run none on bottom one at the very top, I tried one on the bottom it pushed to the top.

I followed the instructions, i think, and put the gfo in first (sitting on the plastick bottom screen) then put both discs on top of it, leaving room for tumbling. Maybe i'll try setting it like i did the carbon-one on top and one on bottom- but leave a little space for tumble.

Im using the 1200 pump that came with it(optional brs package).

if its all going to the top it sounds like too much flow

an easy solution is to just mix your gfo in with the carbon and pack it full, then use floss in the second chamber. Helps keep the rest of your setup from getting gfo residue everywhere.
